The Dava Way long distance path links the historic towns of Forres, on the Moray Coast and Grantown-on Spey in the Cairngorms National Park. The trail follows the route of the dismantled Highland Railway line as it crosses the remote and barren Dava Moor. The trail is well graded and suitable for both walkers and mountain bikers alike.

The following are extracts from The Dava Way Map:-

The Dava Way provides a unique and varied railway walk from Grantown-on-Spey to Forres. The base of the old railway line makes the trail suitable for off-road bikes. It is mostly well graded with occasional wet or stony sections.

Tourist Attractions. The Benromach Distillery in Forres is part of the Whisky Trail and is a working distillery open to the public. The Dallas Dhu distillery is a museum run by Historic Scotland. Lochindorb with its ancient ruined castle is close to the route

The Dava Way Association. This volunteer group is responsible for all aspects of the Dava Way. Having negotiated the opening of the trail they now attempt to upgrade and maintain it. They also maintain an excellent web site at www.davaway.org.uk
